A Diffusion-deposition Tracer System
نویسنده
چکیده
A dual'tracer technique has been developed for use in experiments in low-level atmospheric dispersion and deposition. The system is considered unique in two respects. First, it permits definition of thc airborne concentrations of a cloud of small particles representative of a true aerosol and simultaneously the deposition of larger particles on the soil and vegetation beneath. Second, the deposition tracer consisting of Cu64 particles in the 1 to 10-micron range can be detected directly on the surface without the intervention of any artificial collecting mechanism or the necessity of inferring deposition by mass balance techniques. Techniques, instruments, and facilities for the I.".eparation, activation, emission, sampling, and measurement of both tracers are described in sufficient detail to permit reproduction. The report is also intended as a background reference for future analytical studies resulting from field experiments. A DIFFUSION-DEPOSITION TRACER SYSTEM

Influence of evaporation and exchange reactions at the surface on the evolution of an arbitrary tracer distribution by diffusion
2014 The solution of the equation of one-dimensional diffusion with evaporation of the sample and exchange of the diffusant with the ambient at the surface has been applied to the cases of thick layer diffusion, diffusion from an implantation profile and isotope exchange diffusion. متن کامل18O-tracer diffusion along nanoscaled Sc2O3/yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) multilayers: on the influence of strain
The oxygen tracer diffusion coefficient describing transport along nano-/microscaled YSZ/Sc2O3 multilayers as a function of the thick-ness of the ion-conducting YSZ layers has been measured by isotope exchange depth profiling (IEDP), using secondary ion mass spec-trometry (SIMS). The multilayer samples were prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on (0001) Al2O3 single crystalline substrates....
متن کاملTensile Lattice Strain Accelerates Oxygen Surface Exchange and Diffusion in La1–xSrxCoO3−δ Thin Films
The influence of lattice strain on the oxygen exchange kinetics and diffusion in oxides was investigated on (100) epitaxial La1-xSrxCoO3-δ (LSC) thin films grown by pulsed laser deposition. Planar tensile and compressively strained LSC films were obtained on single-crystalline SrTiO3 and LaAlO3. 18O isotope exchange depth profiling with ToF-SIMS was employed to simultaneously measure the tracer...
متن کاملMODELING OF ASPHALTENE DEPOSITION IN PIPELINES
This paper is concerned with asphaltene deposition in fluid flowing through pipelines. Brownian diffusion and drag, gravitational, thermophoresis, buoyancy, and shear removal are considered as possible mechanisms in the asphaltene deposition process. The thermo-physical properties of the fluid were obtained from Iranian oil fields. A model was used in the pipeline deposition modeling to predict...
متن کاملArterial heparin deposition: role of diffusion, convection, and extravascular space.
Transvascular transport has been studied with atherogenic, tracer, and inert compounds such as low-density lipoprotein, horseradish peroxidase, and albumin, respectively. Few studies used vasoactive compounds, and virtually all studies examined entry from the lumen and not from the perivascular space. We compared several mechanisms that govern arterial heparin deposition after administration to...
